How Thunkable pricing adds up
The plan price is the smallest part of the bill. Three plan rules shape what you actually pay.
- Live app limits. Builder includes 1 live published app. A second app in the stores means moving to Advanced, which is about 2.7 times the yearly Builder price.
- AI tokens. Each plan includes a set number of AI tokens: 2,000 on Free, 20,000 on Accelerator, 50,000 on Builder and 100,000 on Advanced. The pricing page does not say how many tokens a typical build uses, so test on a real screen before you commit.
- Private projects. Free has no private projects, so anything you build there is public. Thunkable's FAQ also says private projects can only be shared with other paid subscribers, so every collaborator needs a paid plan.
The people cost is usually larger than the licence. Someone on your team still has to design the flows, connect the data, test on real phones and get through App Store review. Thunkable lists a "Hire an Expert" option on its site, but the pricing page does not publish those prices, so get a quote in writing before you plan around it.
What happens when you stop paying
This is the point most Dubai buyers miss. Thunkable's FAQ says that if your subscription expires, private projects go into read-only mode and you cannot edit or maintain the app until you renew. It also says published apps become unavailable for your end users. If you downgrade to Free, projects are put into read-only mode and may be deleted after a long period of inactivity.
The FAQ adds that apps on Pro or Business plans are unaffected when an account expires. Those plan names do not appear in the current plan list, so confirm in writing which rule applies to your account. In practice, a Thunkable app is a running cost for as long as customers use it. A custom app you own keeps running as long as its hosting does, and you can move that hosting.
Where Thunkable stops being enough in the UAE
Thunkable is a fast way to test an idea or ship a simple internal app. Gaps show up when you need local compliance, bilingual design or payments.
Arabic and right-to-left
The pricing page does not mention Arabic or RTL layouts. A bilingual app needs mirrored screens, Arabic fonts and mixed-direction forms, tested on real phones set to an Arabic locale. Check this in a free project before you build anything customer-facing.
PDPL and where data lives

Payments, OTP and VAT
A UAE consumer app usually needs a local payment gateway, 3-D Secure, VAT-correct invoices with your TRN and often WhatsApp or SMS OTP. These need server-side logic and careful testing, which a block-based builder makes harder to own and audit.
Store launch is still process
