UI/UX Design Cost in Dubai 2026: Real AED Price Bands

Short answer: In Dubai in 2026, design-only engagements run roughly AED 3,000–9,000 for a landing page, AED 8,000–25,000 for a business website, AED 15,000–40,000 for an e-commerce store, AED 25,000–75,000 for a mobile app, and AED 30,000–90,000 for a web app or SaaS dashboard with a proper design system (before 5% VAT). As a rule of thumb, UI/UX is 20–35% of the total build budget — if a quote puts design far outside that band, something is either missing from the scope or padded into it.

Why design is quoted separately in Dubai

Most Dubai studios bundle design into a single project price, which makes it impossible to tell what you are paying for. Asking for the design line separately is the fastest way to compare two quotes honestly: it exposes whether you are buying a themed template with your logo dropped on it, or actual screen-by-screen product design.

The separation matters more here than in most markets because of bilingual delivery. An English-only layout is one design. The same layout that has to mirror correctly in Arabic — navigation, form fields, icons, number formatting, line length — is meaningfully more work, and it is the single most common thing missing from a cheap quote. The detail is in our guide to Arabic website localization and RTL design in Dubai.

Hourly, daily and retainer rates

Not every engagement is a fixed-scope project. Three other shapes are common in the UAE market:

  • Freelance designer: AED 150–400 per hour. Fine for a landing page or a tidy-up. Risky for anything with more than about twenty screens, because there is no second pair of eyes on consistency.
  • Agency or studio: AED 350–800 per hour, or AED 2,500–5,500 per day. You are paying for a process — discovery, wireframes, prototype, handoff — not just files.
  • Design retainer: AED 8,000–25,000 per month for ongoing work on a live product. This is the right model once you have shipped and are iterating, and it is usually cheaper than re-scoping a new project every quarter.

Hourly looks cheaper and frequently is not. A fixed-scope quote forces someone to think about the whole product before they start; an hourly arrangement quietly moves that thinking onto your invoice.

What actually moves the number

Six things explain nearly every gap between two Dubai design quotes:

  1. Screen count, not page count. A logged-out marketing page is one screen. A dashboard has an empty state, a loading state, an error state, a permissions state and a mobile variant. That is five, and the quote should say so.
  2. Arabic and RTL. Add roughly 25–40% to the design line for a genuine bilingual product, not a translated afterthought.
  3. Research and testing. Interviews, competitor teardowns and usability sessions add AED 8,000–30,000 depending on depth. Skippable for a brochure site, not for anything transactional.
  4. Design system depth. A style guide is a PDF. A design system is tokens, components, documented states and a Figma library your developers can actually build against. The second one costs more and saves more.
  5. Revision rounds. Two rounds is standard. Unlimited revisions is either priced in already or a dispute waiting to happen.
  6. Handoff quality. Annotated specs, interaction notes and a prototype cost a few extra days at design stage and routinely save weeks of development rework.

Where design pays for itself

Design is the only budget line that changes what every other line earns. A build that converts at 1.2% and the same build at 2.4% cost the same to host, market and maintain — one of them simply returns double. That is why we treat structured design work and conversion rate optimization in Dubai as the same discipline at different points in a product's life.

The practical test before you approve a design budget: can the designer show you two shipped products, in your language pair, where they can name the metric that improved? If not, you are buying decoration. Our Dubai web and app design and development services page sets out how we sequence design, build and measurement so the answer stays checkable.

What to insist on before you pay a deposit

Four contract terms that cost nothing to ask for and are expensive to add later:

  • Source files are yours. Editable Figma with edit access, on completion, in writing. Not a PDF export.
  • The deliverables list is by screen and state. Vague line items are where scope disputes live.
  • A named revision count. Two rounds, with what counts as a round defined.
  • A tax invoice showing the supplier TRN. If your business is VAT-registered, that is what lets you recover the 5% as input tax. A designer who cannot issue one is not registered, which is worth knowing.

Frequently asked questions

How much does UI/UX design cost in Dubai in 2026?

Design-only work ranges from about AED 3,000 for a single landing page to AED 90,000 or more for a full web app design system, before 5% VAT. Most SME projects land between AED 8,000 and AED 40,000.

Is UI/UX design included in a website development quote?

Usually, but often as a template adaptation rather than original design. Ask for the design portion as a separate line item — a studio doing real product design will itemise it without hesitation.

What percentage of a project budget should go to design?

Between 20% and 35% for most web and app builds. Below 15% generally means templates; above 40% usually means research and a design system are in scope, which can be entirely correct for a product company.

Does Arabic and RTL support increase design cost?

Yes, typically by 25–40% of the design line. Mirrored layouts, Arabic typography, bilingual forms and number formatting are design decisions, not a translation task handled after the fact.

Should I hire a freelance designer or an agency in Dubai?

A freelancer at AED 150–400 per hour is good value for a landing page or a defined redesign. For a multi-screen product, an agency or studio is usually cheaper in total because consistency, states and developer handoff are handled once rather than patched during the build.
